intent seen through a scientific lens
How can we even begin to explain intent and our horse’s reaction to it? The concept of non-local energy is able to explain how a response is already happening even before we are consciously aware of it. Dr. Benjamin Libet, a pioneering scientist in the realm of human consciousness, discovered that our consciousness projects itself backward in time—that is, the brain is convinced that it became aware of an action before it occurred, while in reality it became aware of the action a half-second later. Dr. Libet conducted a series of experiments where he determined the exact point at which the brain registered a sensation on the skin. He measured when the skin became aware of the sensation and when the brain did. This led to the discovery of the “half-second delay” mentioned above.
Dr. Libet’s experiments also measured the difference in time from the activation of our brain to move our arm to the point where we say, “I am moving my arm.” The Danish science writer Tor Norretranders explains Libet’s work by saying, “The show starts before we decide it should! An act is initiated before we decide to perform it!” 76 And the horse, as a prey animal that evolved to survive in the wild, is in tune to the act, whatever it may be, when it is initiated—so that means before we have consciously decided to perform it.
